Man, I am excited that I finally had a moment to catch up on the blog. On Nov 17th, my son, Jacob Elijah made his debut. The labor was long, and painful. As I mentioned to the nurse at the hospital, you never have to worry about me in this part of the hospital again. When I had my first son, I was already full term, so I was immediately given an epidural. So once it got really real, I did not feel the pain. With this kid, I felt every labor pain, up until I had my c-section which was about 24+ hours of pain.
Hopefully I can right about my new little munchkin later, but I just want to reflect on some hacks that I have learned.
- Amazon Prime is a mom’s best friend. Thank goodness for the two day shipping. In the last month everything I needed, but couldn’t leave the house to get came to the house super duper fast!!!
- Have baby stations throughout the house. I got organized early. I guess nesting worked in my favor. Since I have an upstairs and downstairs, it was important to make sure I had diapers and all the necessities on both floors. Not having to run up and down the stairs especially after having a c-section has been great.
- Wait for buying bottles!!! I am so glad I waited to buy bottles. I did not buy bottles originally because I assumed I would just be breastfeeding. WRONG! My baby doesn’t like my boob. I just assumed he would be like his brother but no every baby is different. I pump exclusively, so I had to leverage the bottles that were given to me at my shower. Eventually, I decided to stick with Dr. Browns bottles.
- A late night strategy. It took e a few days to get tired of going up and down stairs in the middle of the night. I ordered an extra bottle warmer, extra bottles, an icepack and a cooler. I keep all of my bottles for the night upstairs with me. I even have an extra empty bottle in case I nee to use some of my fresh milk for my baby. Another cool thing that I have is the medela wipes. You can wipe the supplies and rinse it without having to sterilize.
So I will share more things later, but I don’t know what I would do with out my Amazon Prime and organization.
